Creative Allies had a chance to be On The Scene and volunteer for a few hours at an event for veterans put on by Hope For The Brave. This is a non-profit that we partner with who is always out and about in the veteran community.
Who Is Hope For The Brave?
Hope For The Brave is a community-based, social entrepreneurship startup, and a 501 (c) (3) organization. They want to create a community that provides the training, mentorship, education and networking to support the post-military careers of our U.S. military veterans.
How Did We Help?
The event took place at the Dress For Success of the Triangle location, another great non-profit you should check out. I took along two of our summer interns, Jessica and Ciera. I, along with both of the interns, helped with sign-in, video and photography. We also did a few interviews at the event. It was a really great turn out of veterans, partner and of course the food sponsor. Yeah, there was a food sponsor – City Barbeque and what a treat!
What Did The Veterans Learn?
Hope For The Brave has a new series called MOV – Maximizing Opportunities for Veterans. During this event, the focus was on LinkedIn and using the platform to help build your personal brand. We heard from Rene Daughtry, who gave some tips on using LinkedIn for branding, networking and recruiting. From some of the audience feedback, whether you were new to LinkedIn or a regular user, everyone still learned something.
Hopefully we’ll be On The Scene for more of these events focused on veterans. We get to use our talents at Creative Allies to give back and support those in our community. You can sign up for the Hope For The Brave newsletter to stay informed on their upcoming events.
