We were front row center for the opening show of the Crooked Teeth Tour in Raleigh, NC. Between the show itself and the volume of the crowd, thankfully, we brought ear plugs!
This tour is CRAZY!
Escape the Fate got the crowd going with their fist-pumping anthems like “Do You Love Me” and “I Am Human”. Leader singer, Craig Mabbitt, ordered a Wall of Death before ending their set with “This War Is Ours (The Guillotine II)”.
Nothing More thundered, their raw energy and passion evident in every song performed. Opening with “Do You Really Want It?”, the entire crowd came alive as everybody (everybody, yeah) on the floor of The Ritz was moving. Playing favorites like “Don’t Stop”, “Jenny” and “This Is The Time”, the audience sang along with every word & jumped to every beat. Slowing it down and treating us to a performance of “Fadein/Fadeout was a special highlight.
Being a fan of all thing drums and EDM, Nothing More’s cover of Skrillex’s “First Of The Year (Equinox)” is one of the greatest things I’ve ever heard. I love when bands bring EDM to life with actual instruments; it takes the music to a whole other level. Something that Nothing More is used to doing: taking music to other levels.
The audience was beyond pumped as a huge curtain went up to let us know it was time for Papa Roach to kick our teeth in. They roared into action with the album (and tour) title track as the curtain dropped to reveal these badasses in all their glory.
Having seen Papa Roach several times in the past, they may have actually rocked harder this time around. They played the first live performance of “Snakes” since 2015 and hypnotized with “Periscope”.
Favorites like “Broken Home”, “Scars” and “Help” plus a super rad cover of Blur’s “Song 2” were some of the set highlights. At one points, fans were climbing the pillars and trust-falling into the crowd below!! The night (of course) ended with “Last Resort” and EVERYONE sang along, including the security guards.
